Evelyn L Robbins

June 1, 1951 — January 19, 2015

EVELYN LOUISE "Lynn" ROBBINS June 1, 1951 - January 19, 2015 Evelyn Louise "Lynn" Robbins, age 63, of Park Rapids, MN, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the CHI St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids with her loving and devoted husband at her side. Lynn was born on June 1, 1951 in Longview, WA to Deane and Gene (Town) Weekley. As a small girl her family returned to Park Rapids where she attended public school and was confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Daryl L. Robbins on October 12, 1968 at St. Johns Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with two children: Darin and April. The day after their wedding, the newlyweds ventured to Spokane, WA where Lynn devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her family. She was a wonderful cook and baker and will be long remembered for her delicious French toast, lasagna and no bake chocolate cookies. She always saw to it that her family received delicious and balanced home cooking. Lynn always felt strongly about education and after her children began school, she volunteered as a teacher's aid. When her patience and teaching abilities were witnessed by school officials she was hired very quickly, as a Paraprofessional. In 1990, Daryl and Lynn returned to Park Rapids where Lynn continued to help as an aid at the Park Rapids Century School. She also tutored children in her home where she enjoyed fostering in the young children a love for reading, writing and arithmetic and becoming students who sought to be lifelong learners. In her mid-50's, Lynn experienced accidental lung damage and began to live with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. She and Daryl made a concerted effort to take time to smell the roses; taking time to travel and camp and enjoy their retirement years together. They bought a camper and spent many years camping with family at Itasca State Park. She had an artistic side and loved to paint flowers, landscapes, butterflies and puppies. She was a voracious reader and opened up a book at every opportunity. Lynn had a profound love for animals and especially enjoyed her toy poodle, Annie. She was a long time member of St. Johns Lutheran Church where she loved to worship and fellowship. Above all, Lynn treasured the times spent with her family who she loved with all her heart. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband for these past 46 years, Daryl of Park Rapids; her son, Darin Robbins and her daughter, April Bower both of Park Rapids; her four dear grandchildren: Tandr, who she nicknamed "Dolly", Brennyn "Brenner Boy", Erika "Precious" and Courtney "Sunshine Babe"; two brothers: Paul (Deb) Weekley and Tim Weekley all of Spokane, WA; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lynn was preceded in death by her mother, Gene Weekley in 2013 and three brothers: Boyd, Daniel and Edward. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Sunday, January 25, 2015 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids with Rev. James Neubauer officiating. Sarah Kaufenburg will be the organist. The active casket bearers will be nephews and a dear friend, Gary Robbins, Loyd Robbins, Jeremy Goble, Roy Robbins, Keith Robbins and Richard Raidt. The honorary casket bearers will be; nieces and nephews: Eric Weekley, Jason Weekley, Kevin Weekley, Paula (Weekley) Anderson, Boyd Weekley, Geoffrey Weekley, Kathy Weekley and Josh Weekley. Interment will be made in the Robbins family plot at the Greenwood Cemetery of Park Rapids. Visitation will begin at the church on Sunday beginning one hour prior to the service.
